By advocating for sustainable practices and raising awareness, we hope to balance tourism with environmental conservation. Despite political uncertainties, our dedication remains unwavering. PERSONAL PROJECT "ABOUT_WOMEN"

Clémentine : "The mermaids is about a way of inhabiting the world. I have spent so much time trying to enter social boxes before I finally, step by step, authorised myself to behave the way I feel. Mermaids is about normalizing being yourself where you are neither exactly fit for society nor total rebel. It is about how to find your place where you are in the middle. In-between cultures, way of living, social statuts, political consciousness."



Today, I would like to introduce Clémentine Sebaux, a young woman I had the pleasure of portraying and interviewing as part of Les Journées Bleues Normandie: L’Art pour l’Eau and my series About, which features inspiring women. Clémentine, known as The Mermaid, is passionately committed to coastal protection and the preservation of nature. Through her artistic projects, she challenges the traditional image of the mermaid and seeks to reshape our perception of the world. Her work aims to break down prejudices and highlight the diversity of human experiences. With her sensitive approach, she enables people to express their uniqueness without having to fully conform to societal norms.

"Since six, years, I have been doing researches about mermaids, their myths, legends and how people, today, connect with them. There is something happing now, worldwide with mermaids. More and more people feel connected to them. The image attracts. It talks about the forbidden, about freedom. About how we treat other living beings about how we treat Ocean and water. Now, while waiting for my book to be published, I interview people who feel this connection to water, to living. Sensitive people who feel they have something to offer to world but don't always know how to manifest it. Mermaids are being split in two parts. Their particularity is that they can hide their tail. So do so many people : hiding their singularity in order to belong. Keeping their sensitivity for themself so they don't look awkward."


"Everyday I see brilliant people with enthousiasm, wisdom, willingness to offer something beautiful to the world who are more or less stuck into the confrontation of their idealistic vision with how the society works. Those are the mermaid. In the allegory, mermaids sing to call the fishermen. Traditionally, it is said not to listen to them. That they will drown us. But what if mermaids' call had something to reveal us ? What if it were an allegory of those people who don't exactly fit into the norms but because of that, have something new and beautiful to offer ?"


"Everyday, I work on normalizing a relationship to the world which is not the predominant one. Wearing flowers in my hair and balking barefoot are my way of offering something else to be seen. Before, I worked as a florist. I decorated events with only local flowers, half directly cut in the fields. I realized most of brides had been waiting for this day to wear a flower crown. Most of the brides won't wear one anytime after. There are things some many of us wish we could do. that causes no-arms to anyone. That could offer something beautiful to be seen in the streets. though, we don't feel legitimate. So we do not do it. Why is it so ? Why is it we don't feel entitled to wear flower crows in our day-to-day lives? These are mermaid question. My hope is that the more mermaid will awaken, the more singular ways of inhabiting the world will be shown, the more singularities will be normalized. The more beautiful and peaceful our world will be. "


"Hannah Arendt says every new human being brings something fresh to the world. Nowadays, occidental society tend to refuse their novelty. As soon as a human is born, he is shaped to comply with how it already works. I wish every people would feel entitled to offer to the world what he or she came with. Claim their call. Feel welcomed as they are."
